The Battle of Mandalore

The Battle of Mandalore is a project I'm working on, and this post is the place for every piece of information you need to know about the Battle.

The Battle of Mandalore was fought in 29 ABY. Boba Fett, the Mandalore of the Mandalorians, led the defense against a Yuuzhan Vong invasion fleet. Though the Mandalorians initially allied with the Yuuzhan Vong in exchange for being spared invasion, Fett realized that the Yuuzhan Vong would break their word.
Unlike other planets which the Yuuzhan Vong invaded to conquer and "Vongform", the attack on Mandalore had one goal only— to destroy the Mandalorians. The Mandalorians' fighting ability, as well as the use of underground tunnels and mountainous terrain, won them the battle. However, one and a half million—or nearly a third of the planet's population—died in the battle and the subsequent orbital bombardment from Yuuzhan Vong ships in orbit.
Even as of 40 ABY, neither the planet's infrastructure nor population had recovered from the invasion. While this was partially due to the Mandalorian nomadic culture, it was largely due to the lack of Galactic Alliance rebuilding assistance.
Ironically, craters from the Vong attacks revealed deposits of Mandalorian iron, used in the remilitarization during the Second Galactic Civil War. The Bes'uliik starfighter was made from this iron.
